Obituary
William C. Deatsch, age 66, of Gasquet, CA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 3, 2021.
Bill grew up in Mill Valley, CA. He graduated from Tamalpais High and stayed in the Marin County area for years working in landscaping. He was affectionately known as “Big Bill”. He was the kind of person who cared deeply for each and every one of you. He made so many friends over the years and across the state or wherever he went. After Bill had taken a camping trip up to the Smith River, CA he fell in love with the “cleanest and clearest water he had ever seen”, he loved to be in the water, it made him happy. He made it his goal to move up there, which he did, and settled in Gasquet, CA. He made many new friends whom he loved and they loved him.
Bill was in remission from prostate cancer for 5 years but then our hearts were grieved when his cancer returned, but his faith was strong through it all. Bill could not have been happier than in the new home he had found and all the wonderful people who made it home for him and helped in his time of need.
Bill really enjoyed playing rock & roll and even formed a band in Gasquet, “The House Rockers”. In lieu of flowers, please, if you see someone who looks hungry or is having a hard time, buy them something to eat, that is what Bill would do. He had a huge heart! Bill was preceded in death by his father Wayne Deatsch, mother Helen Deatsch, grandparents, Uncle Elwin, and his faithful dog Happy Birthday. He is survived by his sister Carol Deatsch Blair, (Jeff Blair), niece Elizabeth Lock and family (Kevin, Collin, Jacob), Aunt Flo Deatsch, cousins Jan Cooper, Phil Deatsch, Patty Hunter and their families. Bill is also survived by his dearest childhood and life long friends John Everts, Andy Farrell and James Whittlesey, who were always there for him. Memorial services will probably happen in Mill Valley area, Novato, CA and Gasket, CA but no dates are set as of this time.
