Obituary

Bill was born on May 17, 1934 to David Kenneth Dunham and Elma Ione Dunham in Roseburg, Oregon. He graduated from Camas Valley High School in June 1952. Bill married Mary Lou Matthews on September 11, 1952. They celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary last September.

Bill passed away at he and Mary Lou’s Brightwood home surrounded by their family on December 31, 2020.

Bill and Mary Lou started the Welches Baseball Association in 1975. During the 1960s through 1990s, Bill was an active member of the Mt. Hood Lions Club.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1953, was sent to Edwards Air Force Base, and was then stationed in Tokyo, Japan. He was discharged in 1957.

Bill and Mary Lou moved to Brightwood in June 1968. He was employed in telecommunications with AT&T, retiring in 1999. He then worked as a consultant for New Horizon Communications, Inc.

Bill loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children and grandchildren. His favorite locations—where he spent many days—included Timothy Lake and the Clackamas River.

Bill and Mary Lou have three children: Laurel Lee Trelstad, of Brightwood; William “Bill” T. Dunham, Jr. (Winnie Hunter) of Brightwood; and Jeffrey Brian Dunham (wife, Cindy Dunham), of Sunriver, Oregon.

Bill is survived by six grandchildren: Matthew C. Trelstad, Nicholas J. Trelstad, Byron Trelstad (wife, Rainy), Mariah Trelstad, and Sarah Trelstad, all of Brightwood; and Ashley Dunham Ralston (husband, Kyle) of Sunriver.

He is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Dawnee Trelstad of Brightwood; Joshua Dunham Ralston of Sunriver; and Henry Trelstad of Brightwood.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, David Kenneth Dunham; mother, Elma Ione Dunham-Cooper; sister, Donna Sabala-McLean; and son-in-law, Clair Trelstad. He is survived by his brother, Kenneth “Buck” Dunham of Culver, Oregon; and sister, Cheryl Looney of Keizer, Oregon.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, memorial services will be announced at a later date.
