Obituary

Mr. Tommy Wayne Bottoms, age 81, of Pilot Mountain, NC passed away at his home on Friday, April 12, 2024. He was born in Surry County, November 14, 1942, the son of the late Claude Elwood and Daisy Ella Bledsoe Bottoms. Mr. Bottoms graduated from Copeland High School in 1962 and worked in the trucking industry throughout his career. He had worked for Motor Convoy (5 years), Leaseway Transportation (23 years), and retired from LC. Transportation after 17 years. Surviving is his wife, Barbara Underhill Bottoms; daughters, Cynthia Jean Bottoms, Teresa Bottoms Marshall (David); son, Tommy Dean Bottoms; grandchildren, Demi Bottoms McGee (Tyler), Carly Bottoms (Felix Goolsby), Aaron Dickerson, Adrian Dickerson, Sydney Marshall; great grandchildren, Marcus Goolsby, Emersyon McGee, Colson McGee; sister, Peggy Bottoms; brothers, Bobby Bottoms, Lonnie Bottoms; special furry buddy and sleeping companion, Prissy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Ann Bottoms. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, 1:00 PM, Moody Funeral Chapel of Mount Airy with Rev. Jerry Pardue and Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The Bottoms family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00-1:00 PM. The Bottoms family wants to thank the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and all the friends and neighbors of Matthews Circle given to them during Tommy’s illness. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Moody Funeral Service of Mount Airy. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
