Obituary
Thomas Lee Smith, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024. He was born in Rossville, Georgia on February 9, 1940 to the late Arnold & Charlcie Ashley Smith and had lived in the Chattanooga area for most of his life. He was of the Church of Christ faith and was a United States Air Force Veteran. He was previously employed with Combustion Engineering for 20 years as a Welder and then retired from the United States Postal Service in 2002 after more than 17 years of service. He loved spending time with his family & friends and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of his world on this side of heaven. He was a loving and devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his loving wife of more than 58 years, Madie Nesmith Smith; children & spouses, Michele & (Daryl) Robertson, Steven & (Michele) Smith and Leigh Ann Canada; brothers & sister-in-law, Gene Smith and Richard & (Jean) Smith; 7 grandchildren, Amber Smith, Brandon Smith, Kailyn Robertson, Brent Robertson, Erin Smith, Tyler Smith and Trevor Canada; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and extended family & friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 20, 2024 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel. Burial will follow in the Lakewood East Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Friday and prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
