Thomas King

Obituary

Thomas D. (T-Bear) King passed away on April 17, 2024 following an extended illness associated with Agent Orange and dementia.
Thomas was born on April 23, 1949 in Muncie, Indiana.  He grew up in Muncie attending Lincoln, Wilson, and Southside schools before joining the United States Marine Corp.  After serving as a Recon Marine in Vietnam, he was honorably discharged in 1973. He was later employed with Norfolk Southern Railroad as a Supervisor. He retired on May 1, 2006 after 30 years of service.  He enjoyed playing golf, yardwork, watching Family Feud and spending time with family.
Survivors include his loving wife Judy, son Christopher King and Christoper’s children Austin, Tadan and Kylin King of Yorktown. Step-son Derek Reed of Muncie and his children Seth Reed (Holly) – children Lili Ayn, Evelyn, Gunnar and Aleryk of Auburn; Allison Nichols (Steven) – children Ripley, Weyland and Burke of Westfield; Bonnie Vargas (Michael) – children Stella and Jett of Ft. Wayne.  Step-daughter Lori Lawson (Doug) of New Palestine,  and their children Mitchell Lawson (Jackie) – son, Ezra of Middletown, Ohio, and Taylor Lawson, Indianapolis; Thomas’ Step-brothers Paul King and David Smith of Muncie;  Sisters-in-law Sheryl Case (Donnie) of Silver Lake, Indiana, Dixie Brooks (Jeff) of Yorktown and Christa King, San Antonio, Texas;  and several nieces and nephews. 
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Lemon King; Stepmother, Virginia; brother, Jimmie King and sister Bobbie King. 
A visitation for Thomas will be held at Garden View Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM.  Funeral services will be held at Garden View Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 12:00 PM with a visitation to take place prior from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM.  Burial will take place after the funeral service at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with military honors to be conducted by the Delaware County Honor Guard.
