Obituary
Theodore (Ted) William Dodson passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 surrounded by family after a strong fight against mantle cell lymphoma. Ted leaves behind a legacy of true kindness and will be missed greatly by so many.
Ted was born in Boring, Oregon, where he lived with his mother Edith. He attended Sandy High School, and was a proud member of the wrestling team. After graduating in 1958, Ted enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served four years before coming back to Oregon and starting a long career at United Grocers.
Those who know Ted know he wasn’t one to sit still. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends, restoring old cars, gardening and working in the yard.
Whether it was his children, a friend or a complete stranger, Ted was always helping someone. He was one of the most selfless individuals who extended his kindness to anyone — even the neighborhood strays, who eventually turned themselves into beloved pets.
He loved his family more than anything, and enjoyed spending time with his children and supporting his grandchildren. Ted never missed a birthday, recital, sporting event or family gathering.
Ted is survived by his three children Terry, Debbie and Tim; his two stepchildren Angie and Bobby; his 5 grandchildren Tommy, Taylor, Makenzie, Naty and Cary. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce.
Memorial donations may be made to Providence Cancer Care.
