Obituary
Terrence Michael Ciccarone, 61, of State College, PA, went
home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. He was born on February 14, 1961, in
Norristown, PA. He was the son of the
late Roland Ciccarone and Theresa (Cantymagli) Ciccarone. He is survived by his
wife, Karen, of State College, PA, a son, Benjamin, of State College, PA, a
daughter, Elizabeth (Ciccarone) Jones, of New Orleans, LA, a niece, Christina
(Ciccarone) Gettins, her husband, Steve, and son, Gavin.
Terry
was a graduate of Newport High School. Upon graduating from
Pennsylvania State University, Terry worked as a research chemist at Merck,
Sharp, & Dohme (MSD). His career was cut short after 16 years, when he was
diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Until this disease crippled his capacity for
physical activity, Terry loved hiking in the woods, archery hunting, fishing,
and vegetable gardening. Most of all, he deeply loved his family and friends.
He cared for others with an open, listening, servant’s heart; and he enjoyed
making people laugh. Terry was also known to be a devoted Philly sports fan. For
a time, he volunteered at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in the Surgery Department.
During his 27-year battle with MS, he drew strength from his faith in Christ,
which helped him maintain a positive outlook on life despite difficult
challenges. In this way, he gave others a sense of hope, resilience, and
confidence. Over the years, Terry found joy in his involvement with church
ministry, especially in leading small groups along with his wife, Karen. For
over a decade, he held a Tuesday morning men’s group. After a brief struggle
with cancer, Terry is home, free at last.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday morning, July 23rd at 10:00am at the State College Alliance Church (1221 W. Whitehall Road, State
College, PA 16801), with Pastor Aaron
Henning officiating. A luncheon will follow. The service will be available
online at live.scalliancechurch.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider making
a contribution in Terry’s honor to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society www.nationalmssociety.org.
