Obituary

Sheila Karen Marcum, a beloved mother, devoted wife, cherished grandmother, dear friend, and passionate outdoorswoman, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024, at the age of 72. She departed this world surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 16, 1951, to her beloved parents, Amos "Red" and Hazel (Booher) Cravens, Sheila was raised with a deep appreciation for nature and a love for the great outdoors. From an early age, she found solace and joy among the trees, fostering a lifelong connection to the natural world.
Sheila shared 51 beautiful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Dave Marcum Sr., embarking on countless adventures together in the wilderness. They found true bliss in the simplicity of camping trips, where they could immerse themselves in the beauty of nature and create cherished memories under the open sky. Sheila often said, "Never met a tree I didn't like," embodying her profound reverence for the natural world and its wonders.
In addition to her love for the outdoors, Sheila adored her faithful companion, Max, who accompanied her on many of her adventures. Max was more than a pet; he was a beloved member of the family and a source of endless joy and companionship.
Sheila's adventurous spirit, boundless love for nature, and unwavering zest for life will forever remain in the hearts of her beloved family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Sheila is survived by her loving husband, Dave Marcum Sr.; her children, David (wife, Jaime) Marcum Jr. and Melissa Marcum; her grandchildren, Evan-Lee (wife, Megan) Huffman, McKenna Goodson, Derek Marcum, and Grant Marcum; her great-grandchildren, B, Paisleigh, Charlotte, and Emmitt-Lee Huffman; and nieces, Katrina (husband, Marvin) Stafford and Misty Marcum.
Sheila is preceded in passing by her beloved parents; sister, Kathy Pryor; and brother, Ronnie Cravens.
Her calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Garden View Funeral Home, located at 10501 N. St. Rd. 3, Muncie IN 47303. Her funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM with Dr. Rev. Rusty Clements officiating. Sheila will be buried at Gardens of Memory Cemetery after the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to A.R.F. of Muncie in honor of Sheila’s passion for the outdoors and her love for animals.
Though Sheila may have bid farewell to this world, her spirit will live on in the rustle of the leaves, the whisper of the wind, and the beauty of every tree she so dearly loved. Rest in peace, Sheila. You will be deeply loved, missed and fondly remembered.
