Ruthann - Hampson

Obituary

RuthAnn Hampson passed away on September 5, 2025 in Crescent City, CA after living a life full of love for 82 years.

RuthAnn was born in Wisconsin, and moved to California with her family when she was approximately 10 years old. RuthAnn spent the remainder of her childhood and the majority of her adult life living in Del Norte County.

In 1961, RuthAnn married her childhood sweetheart, and they shared their lives with each other for over 60 years. Together, they raised a family and were productive members in their community. RuthAnn served on the City Planning commission and she worked as a secretary for County Mental Health for over a decade. She and her husband also owned and operated the business, Endert’s Distributing, for over 20 years.

RuthAnn was a goal oriented, strong, welcoming, determined, fun woman who had a good sense of humor. As a matriarch in her family, many depended on her for support, strength, and companionship. She enjoyed carpentry, gardening, reading, puzzles, thrift store shopping, traveling, crocheting, outdoor activities, and spending time with her family, friends, and animals. She also had a love for history, current events, and ancestry. When she wasn’t busy planning her next adventure, she could be found working in her beautiful garden at her home on the Smith River.

She was a bright and beautiful spirit until the very end. She made the world a better place by being in it, and she will be greatly missed.

RuthAnn is preceded in death by her husband, John Hampson, and she is survived by her son, Robert Hampson, her daughter, Cathy Hampson, her grandchildren, Kyle Hampson, Heather Friedrich, Lindsay Erb, and Lacey Erb, her great-grandchildren Brexlee Hampson, Hayden Gaddis, Sawyer Friedrich, and Parker Friedrich, and her brother David Langlois.

I am proud to have known Ruthann, we live next to her for 5 years during that time we share good times and bad. We were there for each other when we lost our husbands, we were both made to feel apart of each others family. I will hold her memory close to my heart always. Cheryl Steiner
