Russell Warren Hanson

Obituary

Russell Warren Hanson died at the age of 87 years old, very early on Wednesday morning January 31, 2024, at
the Woodland Manor Nursing Facility. He was born on January 6, 1937, to Harold and Viola Hanson in
Abrams, Wisconsin. His only brother, Garry and he learned to love fishing, hunting, and camping from their
Uncle Emery who was close to them when they were young.
He joined the Navy in July 15, 1958, achieving the rank of E-5 and earning a Good Conduct Medal. He was
honorably discharged on July 13, 1962.
He was married to Rosemary (Davis) Gunter on February 14, 1964, in Muncie, Indiana. He surrendered to the
ministry and graduated from Baptist Bible College in the 1970s. After some time in Wisconsin, he became the
Pastor of a church in Morris, Illinois, and then joined the Wings Bearing Precious Seed ministry. From there, he
and Rosie (as everyone called her) moved to Springfield, Missouri and started the Grace Bearing Precious Seed
ministry (which later became Bibles to the Nations) out of the Grace Bible Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Rosemary Hanson, his two sons and their wives, James and Gloria Hanson and
Thomas and Bonney Hanson, eight (8) grandchildren, nine (9) great-grandchildren, and two (2) great-great-
grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harold and Viola Hanson, and his brother Garry Hanson.
A Visitation/Viewing service will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral
Home at Rivermonte from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. It is located at 500 S Lone Pine Road, Springfield, MO 65804
The Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Grace Bible Baptist Church at 9:00AM. It is
located at 2101 North Johnston, Springfield, MO 65803
The grave side service will be held on Friday, following the Funeral, at 11:00AM at the Missouri State Veterans
Cemetery. Located at 5201 S Southwood Rd, Springfield, MO 65804
