Obituary

Longtime Eagle Creek resident, Roy Rush, Sr. died at his home, with his family by his side, on Wednesday, July 14, 2021. He was 73. A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, July 23, 2021 at Sandy Church of the Nazarene 34717 SE Jarl Road, Boring, Oregon. Roy Richard Rush was born December 4, 1947 in Bakersfield, California to Forrest “Pete” and June Chellatabelle (Whatley) Rush. He was raised in Bakersfield, Ca before entering into the US Army of November 29, 1965. He was honorably discharged on November 28, 1968. He married Venita Reisch on May 30, 1969 in Sandy, Or. For most of his working career, Roy was a chef. He an Venita owned and operated several restaurants in Hermiston, Oregon for many years before retiring and moving to Eagle Creek where they lived until his death. Roy enjoyed family gatherings, fishing and friendly gambling. ● He is survived by his wife, Venita; daughter, June and her husband Brian Lavoie; sons Marvin, Wesley and Roy Rush, Grandchildren, Nicole and Dustin Mack, Ashley and Makayla Anderson and great grandson Elijah Rush.
