Obituary
Roy Jack Rooney,86, passed away Friday June 11th in Sandy, Oregon after losing his battle with Chronic Lung Disease. He was surrounded by his sons and loving wife of 64 years.
Jack was an Oregonian born and raised. He always thought of it as the best place in the US to live and loved its “clean pure water”. After high school he joined the US Navy and was trained as a Jet Engine Mechanic however, his love of the open road drew him to become a truck driver, a career that lasted over forty years. He was proud to receive the distinction of a multi-million-mile safe truck driver for never having had an accident or ticket. He rarely if ever missed a day of work which instilled a strong work ethic in his children. Jack will be remembered by his family and friends as someone who could fix anything. He loved cheap beer, a cold glass of milk, L&M cigarettes, “beater cars”, the Seattle Seahawks, his neighbors and despised anything with a name brand.
Jack is survived by his wife Doris Rooney, three children, Carol Hawkins, David Rooney and Chris Rooney, and his stepdaughter Gail Callison. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
No service will be held at Jacks request. Any donation in his honor can be made to the American Lung Association.
