In Loving Memory of

Rose Kochis

December 6th, 1938 - April 11th, 2024

Obituary

The veil between heaven and earth parted on Thursday, April 11, 2024, for my beloved mother, Rose M.(Martelli) Kochis, 85 of Uniontown.  She entered into eternal life with her loving family by her side at her home.
Rose was born on December 6, 1938 in Georges Twp.  She was the daughter of the late Pete and Susan (Stapinsky) Martelli and the beloved wife of the late Paul Kochis. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters; Ann Trifero, Joe Martelli, Mary Ezzi, William Martelli, John Martelli and Rita Martelli.
Left to cherish her memory is her one and only loving daughter, Janelle Kochis, who is her best friend and was always by her side during her healthy years and most recent illness. In addition to Janelle are her siblings, Sisters, Joan (Dan) Kuritz and Linda (Gary) Christopher;  brothers Richard Martelli, Stanley Martelli and Sam Martelli; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A strong and prayerful woman, Rose continued life without her beloved Paul and immersed herself into life with her faith, family, and friends.  Anyone that encountered Rose instantly fell in love with her smile and spirit. In her healthier years, she attended daily mass and breakfast afterwards with her best friends Lucy, Lou, and Helen.  She enjoyed daily conversations with her special friends Connie and Barb.  Her sister Joan called her daily and happily took her anywhere she wanted to go.  Her brothers Stanlely and Sam took special care of her, helping with the house, car, and anything else that she needed.  Rose also shared a second home with her loving daughter, Janelle, in Alexandria, Virginia where she had a best friend, Rose Marie Malatesta.  They shared a special bond of faith and friendship.  Even though Janelle was an only child she had many friends who loved her deeply and called her “Mama Rose.”  Janelle’s childhood friend, Angie has always been a loving support and conduit for specialized care during her most challenging health crisis.  Janelle’s best friend, Gennifer, has always been a constant and loving supporter, advocate and second daughter who added to her happiness along with her children Brandan and Bradley.
A special thanks to her nieces Mia and Marissa Ezzi,  neighbor Janice, caregivers in VA:  Julie, Vicky, Hagar, Marsha, and most recently the loving Angel, Patty for helping to care for the BEST Mom in the world. Additional thank you’s to our VA support system and extended family; Nicole, Jodie, Lolita, Quanda, Bryan, and Lina.
Forever gratitude to Dr. Lucas for providing holistic supplements and care for over 20 years. Thank you to the Uniontown Hospital 2nd floor nursing staff for always giving Rose extra love and care.  Thanks also to the amazing Amedisys Hospice team who cared for her during her final days.
Rose was an active member of St. Therese de Lisieux Church of Uniontown, Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary,  and the retired State Police Association.
Family and friends will be received at Stephen R. Haky Funeral Home, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext. Uniontown on Monday from 2-7 PM.
