Obituary
Roland Gene Plymale, age 88, left this earth on April 24, 2024 surrounded by his loving and devoted daughters. Born January 7, 1936 in Muncie, IN, he passed on the same day of the month (the 24th) as his soulmate, Barbara. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara (Weaver); both parents, Odsie (Sharp) and Guy Plymale; and brother Guy Edgar (Eddie) Plymale Jr (surviving daughter Vicky Rector (Steve) of Lebanon, Tennessee). Roland retired from Delco Battery in Muncie in 1997 after 41 years of dedication. He is survived by his two loving daughters, Robin Koenker (Jeff) of Muncie and Tracy Nygaard (Pete) of Indianapolis; and two grandsons, Clayton Nygaard (Rebecca) of Katy, Texas and Ross Nygaard (Scott Robinson) of Indianapolis. Roland took great pride in his lawn and home, which he personally designed. Roland, his brother and father were all born in the same room in the same house. Roland's mother, a mid-wife, helped deliver his wife, Barbara, and always said with love, "If I'd known I was getting her as a daughter-in-law, I would have slapped her on the butt a bit harder." Roland was an avid bowler and golfer, and won many tournaments in each sport. Roland loved and cherished his family, especially his Grandsons!
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Mark Reynolds officiating at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family has entrusted Garden View Funeral Home to honor their loved one.
