Obituary

Robert Hugh Wafler passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on August the 11th, 2021 at 75 years of age. He was born to his parents Robert Earl Wafler and Wanda Lee Riddle-Wafler on March 16th., 1946 in Belleville, Illinois. He graduated from Granada Hills High school in June of 1964. He was a three-time awarded Sargent in the United States Air Force, stationed in Texas in 1964 and discharged in North Hollywood California in 1967.

He married his first wife Karen on March 31, 1969. They had a daughter April Elizabeth Wafler on July 31, 1970. Although Bob and Karen divorced in 1972, they remained close friends until the end of his life. He was loved by all who knew him. He married his eternal companion Rebecca Wafler on 8/17/1978. After completing many adventures together, Robert and Rebecca adopted three children, Jacob Chelsea and Marissa in 1996. They were sealed for eternity to their children, including his beloved daughter April, on November 14, 2010 in the Reno Nevada Temple.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was baptized at 13 years old.

Robert enjoyed fishing, camping, bicycling, boating, riding motorcycles, and electronics. He enjoyed these activities with his son Jacob and the rest of his family. He completed many projects during his lifetime. He rode his bike on many occasions and participated in AT THE LEAST 10 separate, 100 mile bike rides accompanied by his biking friends and his daughter, Chelsea. He had a love for music, singing and even dancing and often listened to his Classic Rock with his family.

He is preceded in death by his daughter April Wafler, eternal companion Rebecca Wafler, mother and father Robert and Wanda Wafler, sister Janet Kennedy and Granddaughter Kasey Wafler and other relatives and friends.

He is survived by his children Jacob Wafler, Chelsea Hamling, and Marissa Mayers, brothers Rick And Dan Wafler, nieces Miyako, Doretta and Lori, and nephews Erich, Ken and Richard, Michael, Robbie and Floyd, grandchildren Dymond, Thomas, Kyle, Jeffery, Malloree, Oliver, and Owen and all of his great biking friends, Mike, Brent, Nick and many many others.

Those who knew Robert Wafler will always remember his strong, stubborn and unconditional love that he showed to everyone that had the privilege to know him. He was fiercely determined in everything he did. He fought hard to make sure his loved ones were provided for. He worked up until he was 74 years old. He was a man to look up to. His strength and determination will live on through his family and they will continue to make him proud.
