Obituary

Robert Dale Burton, 71, passed away surrounded by family on March 7, 2024 in Indianapolis,
Indiana.

The son of Robert Ray “Cassius” Burton and Ava Marie (Bottoms) Burton, he was born on June
24, 1952, in Adair County, Kentucky. He graduated from Indian Creek High School in 1970. He
married Anna Mary (Pemberton) Burton on December 27, 1976. He worked at Arvin Industries
in Franklin, Indiana for 30 years before moving to Sonoco Flexible Packaging where he retired in
2014. Robert obtained several certifications as a maintenance electrician.

His most precious time was spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-
grandchildren. He coached and supported his wife and kids in their numerous sports, activities,
and clubs. He was an avid Star Trek and Sci-Fi enthusiast. He enjoyed the History Channel, a
good (or bad) game of golf, fishing, boating, riding his motorcycle, and fast cars. He could build
and fix anything. He will forever be remembered for his love of a good joke, popcorn, his
famous quotes, and computers. He always had a deep love for music, playing guitar, and
treasured his time playing with his band and others throughout his life. He passed his love and
appreciation for music and sports down to his children and grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his wife, Anna, and also by his children, Robert Daniel Burton, Stacey
(Chris) Vierling, April Burton (Terrance Jackson), Adam Burton (Kara Young) and grandchildren,
Christopher, Anthony, Kaila (Eathan), Jacob (Nikki), Jayson, Mason, Dalton, Wesley, Avery,
Aubrey, Finley, Cali Ann, and great-grandchildren Everleigh, Maliki, and McGraylen.
He is also survived by his siblings Kathy Williams, Larry (Sherry) Burton, Cheryl Davidson (Dennis
Gilliland), Andrea (Jess) Findley, Gwen (Jeff) Snyder, and Alana Hadar and many nieces,
nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brother-in-law Kerri Williams, sister and
brother-in-law Dorothy and Fred Kirkwood.

Services will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens and Funeral
Home. Visitation will be from 2pm – 4pm with a Celebration of Life immediately following at 4pm. A private burial will be held at a later date.
