Obituary
Richard Wayne Vosburg
March 29, 1951 ~ March 14, 2022
Richard Vosburg, also known as Rick, was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and friend. Born and raised in French Camp, CA, Rick belonged to the second largest family in town with his 8 brothers and sisters. He was raised on a dead-end road along the banks of the San Joaquin River and had dozens of stories of adventures that ranged from tree forts to making rubber band guns and playing cops and robbers with his siblings. His oldest sister, Nancy, says that Rick was always the happy brother, expressing humor and giggles in every situation.
Rick was a great fan of NASCAR. His favorite driver was whoever happened to be winning that day. He loved stargazing with his two telescopes and whomever he could lure out to the side pasture to gaze with. He always said a T-shirt wasn’t worth having unless it had a pocket and his favorite color was plaid.
Rick served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam era and lived the motto, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.” Rick was so proud when his son followed him into that branch of the armed forces.
Rick loved his wife Cindy from the moment he saw her. Rick used to tease that he was hit by Cupid’s arrow at first sight. He was 22 and she was 16. Within a year they married, to spend the next 47 years as life partners. Rick cherished his Cindy and supported her in all things from career choices to Christmas lights. While not an avid animal lover himself, Rick took in and helped care for dozens if not hundreds of pets during their years together. Cindy always said “Rick doesn’t love animals, but he loves me.” She also says that Rick always kept her laughing and was the greatest man on Earth.
Rick was a devoted father to his two children, Brandy and Richard. He gave them a childhood of hubcap hunting, hikes at Knight’s Ferry, tire swings, tree houses, stargazing, and a lifetime of laughter.
Rick is preceded in death by his mother, Angela Vosburg (née Lagasse), father, Milford Vosburg, brothers Robert, David, and Christopher Vosburg, sister Gloria Vosburg, and brother-in-law Manuel Perez, cousin Don Vosburg, nephew William Smith, and niece Melissa Prater.
Rick is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Vosburg, daughter Brandy Moon (Garrett), son Richard Vosburg (Holly), sister Nancy Smith (Bill), brother Ralph Vosburg, brother James Vosburg (Judy), sister Peggy Vosburg (Dee), sister Laura Rasmussen (Joe), brother Brian Vosburg (Renee), sister-in-law Tina Powell (Steve), sister-in-law Kim Prater (Ray), and sister-in-law Carissa Podesta (Tom). Rick also dearly loved his many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
