Obituary

Richard “Dick” Thiemann, born May 18, 1937, in Deadwood, SD, passed away peacefully at his home in Corbett, OR, on April 12, 2024.

Richard graduated from Benson High School.  He started working at Riviera Motors, where he excelled as a foreman and lead pit boss for Riviera’s Porche Racing Team, competing across the Northwest US and Canada.  His passion for automotive engineering and mechanics then led him to co-found Heckmann & Thiemann Motors in SE Portland.  A business venture that would thrive and become a cornerstone in the local community.  Following his retirement from Heckmann & Thiemann Motors, he, and Janice, owned and operated Thiemann’s San-Dune Tavern in Manzanita, OR.

Richard found immense joy in spending time with his family.  He cherished moments camping, waterskiing, traveling, and working in the yard.

He is survived by his children: Kathi Lively (Dan), Karen Brown and Del Thiemann (Nina).  He has 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Richard was a dedicated husband to Janice, with whom he shared nearly 50 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2007.

He will be dearly missed.
