Phillip Hatzimanolis passed away the morning of June 14, 2012. He was born to Theologue and Marjorie Hatzimanolis on October 22, 1949 in Fort Collins, Colorado. A few weeks after his birth Phillip and his family moved to California.

Phillip spent his younger years growing up in Klamath, California where he enjoyed swimming in the Klamath River, duck hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He graduated from Del Norte High School in 1967 and went on to attend College of the Redwoods in Eureka.

By 1970 Phillip had married and had a son. He and his young family moved to San Jose, California where Phillip went to work for United Grocers as a truck driver. Phillip worked for United Grocers for many years. After many years Phillip went to work as a dispatcher for Granite Construction.

Several years ago Phillips health began to worsen, and he was in and out of hospitals. His deteriorating health made it difficult for him to travel home to Crescent City, but it was always in his heart.

Phillip is survived by his loving mother, Marjorie; children: Jerry and Malinda Hatzimanolis; sisters: Elaine Ghidinelli, Carol and husband, Clar, Byers; nephews and nieces: Brian (Jennifer) Ghidinelli, Steven (Michelle) Ghidinelli, and Colin and Lauren Byers as well as two granddaughters. Phillip also leaves behind his very close friends: Bob, Judi, and Toni Self whom he loved and cared greatly about.

Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Theologue Hatzimanolis, on June 11, 2012.

Private family services will be held, and Phillip will be buried with his father in the Crescent City Veterans Cemetery.

Phillip had COPD which resulted from smoking. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association, 115 Talbot Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95404
