Obituary
Pelino Fernanes born in Loule, Portugal on May 28, 1938 to Manuel and Avo Fernandes passed away January 12, 2022 in Napa, California due to hip surgery complications.
At the age of 17, Pelino migrated to the United States in search of the American Dream. Unlike today he didn’t swim across the Rio Grande or sneak in under the cover of darkenss, as with many in his generation did. They entered through the front door.
He submitted necessary paperwork and went before an immigration Judge where Pelino demonstrated he knew and understood basic English, had a job, money in the bank and wouldn’t be a burden on society. He had to have a sponsor and Babe Crivelli of Klamath was his sponsor.
Pelinos' first job was picking ferns in Orick, California and later was hired by Simpson. He met Eunice Patapoff and they were married in 1963. Pelino went to work for Miller Reillum Redwood Company in 1968, where worked until 1992. He accepted early retirement when the company announced there were downsizing.
Through his years, Pelino would buy and sell rental property which he had a knack for.
Pelino is survived by his son Shawn (Jamie) Fernandes, grandchildren McKensy & Kayleb and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife Eunice, brother Livo and parents Manuel and Avo Fernandes
