Obituary
Estacada resident, Neva Irene Levinson, died at a Gresham Care Center on Wednesday, March 07, 2018. She was 92.
A celebration of her life will be held 12:30 PM, Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Estacada First Baptist Church.
Neva was born December 21, 1925, in Florence, Oregon to Eastman Drew Severy and Lydia Ervilla Prouty/Anderson Severy. She was raised with her two younger brothers, Drew and Roy Severy, and graduated from Siuslaw High School in 1943. After high school, she attended Eugene Business College. She attended a USO dance where she met her husband William “Bill” Levinson. They married on August 7, 1946. He died in the line of duty as an Oregon State police officer in 1950. After that time, Neva raised her children alone while working as a bookkeeper, mostly in lumber mills and later as a Kelly Girl in Eugene-Springfield offices. She worked full-time BiMart’s corporate office and relocated when they moved the office to Seattle. She worked full and then part-time until 2005 (age 80) when she retired and moved to Estacada. She always stayed busy as an Avon representative, attending community and church functions (especially bible study). She enjoyed watching the Eugene Emeralds in person, Portland Blazers and Seattle Sonics on TV.
Neva was involved with many organizations through her life including Estacada First Baptist Church, Grace Lutheran Church in Seattle, Girl Scout Leader, Parents Without Partners, Purple Heart Auxiliary, Overeaters Anonymous, Arthur Murray Dance Studio. She enjoyed every type of fiber/yarn craft selling some and giving most away.
Survivors include her daughter, Pat Cane and husband Lyndell of Walterville; son, Rod Levinson and wife Debbie of Welches; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
