Molly E. Dorrell

Obituary

Mrs. Molly E. Dorrell, Greenwood, passed away on the late afternoon of Friday, February 23, 2024. She was 93. Molly was born September 29, 1930 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter of the late Orval Paul Sells and Dorothy Mae (Pearcy) Sells Bortlein.
Molly attended and was a graduate of Center Grove High School, where she met and soon after married William E. Dorrell, a union of nearly 63 years until his passing in 2013. She devoted her life to her husband and her children.
Molly was a member of the Bargersville Christian Church and over the years served as a VBS teacher and participated in the women’s group. She spent her leisure time antiquing, reading and working crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed playing Bridge with the Ladies Bridge Group and watching the Pacers and Colts. She loved spending time outdoors rock collecting and hunting mushrooms, as well as flower gardening. She also liked to travel with her husband visiting various places around the country.
Molly loved her family dearly and she cherished the time they could spend together. She was a wonderful cook, and she will be remembered for the delicious meals she prepared over the years.
Molly is survived by her children, Doug (Sandy) Dorrell, Susie (Marshal) Chaney, Cathy (Larry) Mack, Connie (Chuck) Hughes and David Dorrell; her grandchildren, Scott Dorrell, Molly Mattingly, Angi Paul, Jeremy Mack, Garrett Mack and Ethan Hughes; her great-grandchildren, Connor Dorrell, Nevaeh Dorrell, Makenzie Mattingly, Isabel Mattingly, Grace Paul and Zachary Paul; her sister, Lyn Plummer, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband, William E. Dorrell and her sisters, Gloria Fankboner and Pam Hauk.
A private family funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm, Friday, March 1, 2024, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with Pastor Danny Thomas officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.  There will be no public visitation.
