Obituary
Michael R. Longfellow, 70, of Ormond Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 24, 2024 at his home. Originally from Huntington, West Virginia, Michaels’ family moved to Ormond Beach when he was a child where he flourished and called home until his passing. Michael’s career as a Police Officer started in 1975 and he retired as City of Ormond Beach Chief of Police in 2010. He was honored to be able to serve the public.
Michael’s most cherished roles were husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, great-uncle, dog dad and friend. He would laugh and say that retirement was the best job he ever had and was thrilled to be able to make memories with his family and friends. He will be remembered as a loving, compassionate, fair, morally decent man who has left a huge positive impact on everyone he knew.
Michael is survived by his wife Shannon Longfellow, children Jason Longfellow (Johanna) and James Sartori, grandchild Jace Longfellow, sister Sandra Robinson (Edward), brother-in-law Troy Stacey, niece Mary-Margaret Robinson, nephew Edward Robinson IV, great niece Ellie Robinson.
A Celebration of Life is being planned by his family. To honor his parents, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UCF Foundation, Gene and Mary Longfellow Award (to provide beginning teachers with funds for supplies), at UCF Foundation, College of Community Innovation and Education, University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL 32816.
