Obituary

Mercedes Ethel Davis peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 in Gainesville, Florida. At the age of 92, she is believed to be one of the oldest survivors with developmental disabilities.

She was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 6,1931 to previously deceased parents, Frederick and Sadie Davis as the oldest of 6 siblings who are also no longer with us. Mercedes had a fascination for people watching and loved to walk, and ride in all types of motor vehicles, including carts.

Beautiful memories are cherished by her devoted sister, Betty Davis Frasier and her brother-in-law Joseph Frasier, who held a special place in her heart. A host of nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins and countless friends bid farewell with a heavy hearts and profound gratitude to have known her.

A graveside Memorial service will be held at Arlington Park Cemetery on Tuesday, February13th at 2 o’clock pm.

A second memorial will be held at Tacachale Developmental Disability Center in Gainesville, FL in which she was an active and energetic community resident for many years.
