Obituary

Mel Chartier died on Monday, July 29, 2019. She was 94. A celebration of her life will be held at Garfield Community Church. Private family burial will be at Springwater Cemetery. Melba Irene Bauer was born November 14, 1924 in Portland, Oregon, to William and Bessie Bauer. On November 22, 1945 Mel married Ellis Chartier in Vancouver, Washington. Mel enjoyed a very successful real estate career. She was very social, and she loved spending time with her family. She became a CASA in her seventies, and she knitted dozens of little sweaters for disadvantaged children. She was always positive and busy and full of life. Survivors include her sons, Mark, David, Steve; daughter, Andrea; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ellis in 2002. Estacada Funeral Chapel is in care of the arrangements.
