Obituary
Mrs. Mary E. Walls, age 102, went to join her Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, January 26, 2024 and her loved ones who had gone before her, especially Lee Walls who was the love of her life.
Mary Elizabeth Walls was born on Friday, January 20, 1922 in Springfield, Missouri. She was the mother of six children, Shirley Alexander, Gary Arnold, Linda Reid, Sheila Kay Daniels, George Arnold and Alice Hollingsworth. Mary was an international great-grandmother having grandchildren from Guam, China, Philippines, Middle East and the United States.
Mary loved her family and especially enjoyed family get-togethers where she was famous for her coconut cream pies. She was a hard worker and lived on a farm for many years doing gardening, canning, raising animals and taking care of her family. Later in life she worked at the Colonial Hotel and Holiday Inn as a Housekeeper.
Mary was loved by many and will be missed greatly by family, friends and caregivers. She was a member of the National Heights Baptist Church in Springfield, MO.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda, Sheila Kay and Alice; two daughters-in-law, Linda Arnold and Patricia Arnold; one son in-law, Ted Hollingsworth.
The family would like to thank The Maples for the wonderful love and care given by them to Mary during her last years. A special thanks to the Lord for allowing us to have been part of her life and now she resides with Him in Heaven. “I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7.
A Celebration of Life will be on Monday, February 5, 2024 in the National Heights Baptist Church 3050 N. National Ave. Springfield, MO 65803. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:00 AM with the funeral service following at 11:00 AM. with Reverend Vaughn Weatherford officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Willard, MO.
