Obituary
Mark Charles Dodd, born July 16th, 1950 in Long Beach, CA, passed away while resting at his home in Gasquet, CA the night of Monday, June 6th.
After a lengthy battle with cancer, Mark passed surrounded by the love and support of his extended family, the Smith River within his view. At different times in his life Mark was an aircraft mechanic for the Air Force, a drywall contractor, a realtor, and a case records analyst for Pelican Bay State Prison. Those closest to him knew him as a loving and reliable husband, a supportive and selfless father, a man possessing a deep and gentle voice full of kindness and patience.
Throughout his life Mark showed a deep appreciation for natural beauty. He moved his family to Gasquet, CA in 1994 and was grateful to have spent the rest of his life there, often going for long rides into the surrounding mountains on his motorcycle. For Mark, the joys of walking through the trees, listening to the river, and raising his family were all he could ask for.
Mark contributed 25 years of volunteer service to the Gasquet Community Service District as a member of the water board. Though a private man, Mark loved his community, and will be remembered for his generosity.
Mark is survived by his wife Patti, his sons Sam and Matt, his daughter Amanda, his sister Kris Houston, his brother-in-law Tony Larson, his sister-in-law Melissa Larson, and many nieces and nephews.
