Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we share the unexpected passing of Kirsten Jean King from this world on May 31st, 2023. She tragically lost her life in an accident on Highway 101. Despite the tireless efforts of the compassionate staff at Sutter Coast Hospital, Kirsten succumbed to her injuries at 4:56pm.
Kirsten achieved a significant milestone in her life, graduating from Early College High School in Deming, New Mexico in 2022 as well as an associate degree from Western New Mexico University. Her ambitions led her to pursue a degree in nursing at The College of the Redwoods, a path she was eagerly preparing to embark upon. Kirsten dedicated her time and energy working full-time as a Med-Tech at Sea View Memory Care in Brookings, Oregon where she found fulfillment and took great pride in advocating for the well-being of elderly memory care patients. During her personal time, Kirsten dedicated herself to a healthy lifestyle, spending countless hours cooking nutritious meals at home and faithfully attending her local gym on a weekly basis.
Born on April 4, 2004, in Ukiah, California, Kirsten was the beloved daughter of Mandy Diane Bloomfield (Gig Harbor, WA) and Alan Eugene King (Crescent City, CA). She leaves behind her cherished younger brother, Jayden Daniel Robert King, as well as her loving grandparents Barbara and Bob Jimenez (Crescent City, CA), Diane Lee Ryan (Ukiah, CA), and her longtime best friend Eliza Rebecca Lopez (Deming, NM). Kirsten is also survived by an extended family; consisting of countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, who all mourn her untimely departure. Kirsten’s infectious smile and caring nature made a lasting impact on all those fortunate enough to have crossed her path. The loss of Kirsten has deeply affected her entire family and community. Her absence will be keenly felt, as she was a social butterfly who radiated love and touched the lives of many.
To help alleviate the immediate expenses and costs, a GoFundMe page has been set up by the family. Any remaining funds will be used to establish a special Scholarship Fund in Kirsten’s memory to assist young adults interested entering the medical field, this scholarship will be devoted to supporting aspiring young individuals who are passionate about pursuing a career taking care of others.
In honoring Kirsten’s memory, let us cherish the moments we shared with her and carry forward the love and compassion she embodied. May her spirit guide us as we navigate this difficult journey of grief, always remembering the light she brought into our lives. The family is currently finalizing arrangements, and tentative plans have been made to hold the services in Crescent City, California, in mid-July.
