Kathleen "Katie" Magill, a woman of remarkable integrity, boundless positivity, and unwavering dedication, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that will forever illuminate the lives of those who were fortunate to know her. She was born on February 1, 1960, in San Diego, California, and departed from this world with grace and dignity.
Katie was a shining beacon of warmth and kindness throughout her 63 years of life. She was a steadfast presence in the lives of her loved ones, having shared 47 years with the love of her life, Jay Magill. Their enduring love and commitment to each other began at the jukebox and was unrelenting to the end.
As a mother, Katie was the embodiment of love and selflessness. She and Jay had three daughters and raised four, instilling in them the same values of hard work, integrity, and an unwavering dedication to doing things right. Her daughters were not only her pride and joy but also a testament to her nurturing spirit.
For 35 years, Katie served as an employee of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, 30 of which were spent as a plumber at Pelican Bay State Prison, a testament to her incredible work ethic and commitment to excellence.She approached her job with the same dedication that defined her life, ensuring that every task was completed to perfection. Her coworkers and supervisors knew her as a reliable and trustworthy colleague, and her influence extended far beyond the workplace.
In 2019, Katie achieved a significant milestone by earning her Associate's degree, showcasing her unrelenting pursuit of personal growth and knowledge. Her determination to better herself and her commitment to lifelong learning were an inspiration to all.
Katie's legacy transcends her professional accomplishments; it resides in the countless lives she touched with her infectious positivity and boundless generosity. She had a heart that knew no bounds, and she went out of her way to care for others, always putting their needs before her own.
Katie's bright and beautiful spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her legacy will forever remind us of the power of unwavering integrity, hard work, and the importance of spreading love and positivity to those around us.
Katie enjoyed the music of life. From her days sitting in the sun in Gasquet with the fresh air, to sitting in her favorite spot on Pebble Beach taking her many sunset pictures of Castle Rock, or that “one bird.” She loved swimming the Smith River, soaking in the sun on the perfect gravel berm or listening to music and dancing like no one was watching.
In her passing, Katie leaves behind a lasting impression of love, kindness, and the enduring impact of a life well-lived.She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of sharing in her remarkable journey. May her soul find eternal peace, and her memory forever light our way.
Katie is preceded in death by her mother Margaret, and father William Glasser; Sister Patricia Thomas, and Brother William J. Glasser Jr. She is survived by her brother Robert (Leslie) Glasser, sister Teresa (Victor) Reason, husband Jay Magill; daughters, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Along with many friends and many she called as close as family.
