Obituary
Joe was born on September 12, 1952, in Lajes Terceira, Azores to Manuel Alves Borges, and Nazare Borges. He moved to Crescent City in1969.
A beloved father, grandfather, friend, and coworker passed away on May 11, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loved ones who will continue to model their lives after his passion for family.
He greeted everyone no matter the time of day with his signature “Good Morningsss!” He was a pillar of our community and left his mark on everyone he met. He could often be found on his backhoe around the city.
Joe was a true family man; he was happiest when he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. His support to his family came in many forms, cheering on the sidelines of a game, giving out hand-picked roses at a dance concert, or clapping at a music recital.
He is survived by his wife Isaura Borges, his children Paula Magarino and her husband Frank, Ana Potter and her husband Tim, Jason Borges and his wife Diana, Joey Borges and his wife Maria, and his ten treasured grandchildren Juliane, Bailey, Reyna, Simone, Justin, Garrett, Carlo, Benjamin, Max, and Ricardo. He is also survived by his brother Manuel Borges, his sister Alina Estrella and brother in-law Gill Estrella.
