Obituary

Jon Alexander aka “Trapper” was born August 3,1948. He waged his battle with cancer with an attitude of “no retreat no surrender” all the way through & passed at peace January 25, 2021. The scope of Jon’s life is vast and weaves many communities and individuals from coast to coast. He was an accomplished athlete, attorney, writer, poet, sports and rock
& roll aficionado. He believed deeply in freedom, justice and redemption despite prior circumstances, and worked tirelessly to serve his country and community in those ways. He loved living in Del Norte County and served as District Attorney in 2010 and with the Yurok Tribe in social services. He was a weekly contributor to the Triplicate and Lost Coast Outpost where he was able to share his gift as a wordsmith in his column “Angels and Desperados.”

He is survived by his beloved pup Max, his Sister Lorna & Mark Silver of Brookings, Nieces Erin Clark of Kauai, and Zoey Silver of Colorado, Nephew Zyan, Nici & Sloane Silver of Oregon. As well as his tribe of brothers Bill Bedsworth of Orange County, CA, Barry Bronson of Lexington, KY and Brian Workman of Wilmington, NC.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: THE NORTHCOAST MARINE MAMMAL CENTER 900 Northcrest Drive #202, Crescent City, California 95531.
Jon found great joy and inspiration in frequenting the center on daily walks to check in on the seal pups, and to support the volunteer efforts being made there.

A celebration of life will be forthcoming this spring or summer in Crescent City.

If you knew Mr. Jon Alexander you will remember he was one of kind and would always go the extra mile for the people in his life. He loved his family; he loved his community, and he loved The Boss. TRAMPS LIKE US …

Tonight I'm layin' here
But there's something in my ear
Sayin' there's a little town just beneath the
floodline
Needs a local hero
Somebody with the right style
Lookin' for a local hero
Someone with the right smile
Local hero local hero she said with a smile
Local hero he used to live here for a while.
