Obituary

John W. Rycraft II passed away unexpectedly on May 26, 2021 in Ontario, CA. He was 55 years old. Johnny was born and raised in Crescent City, CA. He attended several local schools most notably, St. Joseph’s School, Christian Life, and graduating from Del Norte High School.

It was in Crescent City that he formed life long friendships that he treasured and nurtured throughout his life. He delighted in sharing stories of his shenanigans with Bob Hare, Gregg Reese and Ricky Seifert and trips to summer camp with the Foursquare Church youth group. John cherished his relationship with dear friends and spiritual guides Dave and Lavonne Powell. On his visits home, he was sure to connect with loved ones such as Tammy Wakefield to catch up over lunch.

John didn’t know a stranger and was kind to all he met. He loved to tell a good story and was a bit of a “prankster.” He loved all things San Francisco 49ers, so the next time so the next time you are cheering them on, be sure to raise a glass for John.

John spent some time in the Navy stationed in Norfolk, VA and eventually New Jersey. He loved to share stories about his adventures and people he met. John later pursued other career choices. John enjoyed his travels to Mexico with his wife Patricia and his daughter Alexandra. John’s eldest daughter, Jaqueline, resides in Oklahoma and he was looking forward to his trip to visit her in July.

John is survived by his wife Patricia Rycraft, his daughters Jaqueline Rycraft and Alexandra Rycraft, and step-children Karen, Karla, Stephany and Irving. Grandchildren include Alexander, Sophia and Angelique. He is also survived by his Sisters Jennifer Finigan (David) and Rebecca Bohannon (Troy) and Aunts Joan Rycraft and Jennifer Owen. Johnny’s nieces and nephews include Justin Rycraft, Jenna Maze, Cierra Oscar, Dustin Bohannon, Layne Bohannon and Emile Millhouse. He had numerous great nieces and nephews.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Judy A. Glenn and Jerry R. Rycraft, his step-father Chuck Blackburn, and Grandparents John and Jeanne Rycraft and Dale and Rita Miller.

The service will be held jointly for John and his mother, Judy A. Glenn, who passed away in October. Reception immediately following at Finigan Real Estate office located at 485 K Street. Rest in Peace John.
