Obituary

Sandy resident John Powell died at his home October 26, 2021. He was 82.

John Floyd Powell was born in Santa Ana, California, to Floyd and Lucy Powell on October 10, 1939. He grew up in southern California.

John met Carol Rogers in 1958. They married in Garden Grove on June 23, 1960. After marrying Carol, they moved to Santa Clara, where John was stationed at Moffett Field when not on deployment. Upon his discharge in 1963, they bought a house in Garden Grove. In 1967, they moved to Gresham, Oregon, before moving to Sandy permanently in 1971. He worked in the logging and construction industries prior to working at Oregon Department of Transportation from which he retired in September, 2001 after 19 years.

John enjoyed working on cars, visiting with family, working in the yard and keeping his bird feeders full.

John is survived by his children, Keith Powell of Washougal, Washington, Scott Powell of Sandy, Julie Powell of Keizer, sister-in-law Joanne Bryce of North Carolina, grandchildren Tiffany Casey, Kelley and Dean Powell, Amanda Williams and Cory Tebeck. Great grandchildren Lakai, Ephraim, Paytin and Kash.

A funeral Service will be held at Sandy Funeral Home on November 8, 2021, at 10:30am. A committal service will follow at Sandy Ridge Cemetery.

Johnny was the BEST brother-in-law ever‼️ I first met him at the age of 14 when he and my sister began dating. I have many fond memories of him and know what a wonderful man he was!‼️

His beautiful sparkling blue eyes and very special smile will be greatly missed❤️
