In Loving Memory of

John Everett Dodson

August 21st, 1938 - January 2nd, 2022

Obituary

John Everett Dodson was born August 21, 1938, in Enid, Oklahoma.

John married Cecile “Babe” DeMary in 1956 in Washington and had 4 children: Dirk, Dan, Don and Dorie. They moved from Portland to Sandy in 1962 where they stayed and raised their family.

John accomplished many things in his life and wore many hats. A lot of people will remember his love of playing and coaching baseball and softball. He worked at a foundry, was a Barber, owned a 2nd hand/antique store, and was a realtor until he retired at age 53.

After retiring, John and his wife moved to Sun City, Arizona where he golfed, played in a lawn bowling league, and cruised town in his golf cart. After 10 years, they returned to live in Sandy and Gresham.

John loved to build many things, especially bird houses. He also loved reading, toy trains and making weekly trips to the discount grocery store.

John died peacefully in his home on January 2, 2022, at the age of 83. John was preceded in death by his son, Dan Dodson, and survived by his devoted wife of 65 years Cecile “Babe” Dodson, 2 sons Dirk Dodson and Don Dodson, 1 daughter Dorie Dodson, 8 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

John Dodson was a man that I looked up too. I worked for him many times. He was one of the people that helped my business get a foothold in the beginning and here I am 19 years later. To me he was a smart man with a great head for business and real estate but seemed to have a gentleness about him. He was the kind of man that would hire you to work for him and you would be the one leaving having learned something. I liked him from day one. He was one of my most loyal clients. His daughter Dorie and his grandson Robert I consider my friends and they reflect the best qualities of his character (yes Robert has a gentle side). I can only imagine his families hurt at this time and my condolences are sent to you all. God Bless Timothy J Glynn
sorry to hear this. now he can tell you how beautiful being with Christ is. Arthur Hayward
