Jessie Iris Sharp, 102, passed away on April 9, 2022. Jessie was born December 15, 1919 to Frank and Myrtle Cromwell in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
She was the youngest of four children. Born and raised on a farm, she rode a horse every day to school to a one-room schoolhouse. As a teenager, the family moved out west and followed the fruit crops in California picking whatever was available. It was there her and her sister, Mildred met Charles (Dick) Sharp and Clarence (Buck) Sharp while picking cotton. Romance blossomed between the two sisters and the two brothers and Mildred and Buck were married followed by Dick and Jessie. They settled in Turlock, CA until the mid-fifties when they moved to Crescent City. By that time, they had two sons and a daughter and would soon have another daughter.
Jessie was homemaker, but was also a home builder as she worked side by side with her husband to help build the family home. She planted gardens with flowers as well as fruits and vegetables. Some of the best times she had with her husband were fishing on the banks of the Smith River.
Jessie was preceded in death by her husband, Dick and her son, James, her daughter, Sharleen, grandson Mitch Land and great granddaughter Jennifer Winkelmann.
She is survived by her son Roger, daughter Debra, daughters in law Pat Sharp and Leona Witt. She was blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
