Obituary

Jean S. Fashbaugh, born October 26, 1913 in Waihi, New Zealand passed away on August 20, 2012 in Crescent City, CA at the age of 98. She came to the United States in 1904 settling in Yerrington, NV. Along with her family she then settled in Antioch, CA where she attended grade and high school. In 1930 she was married to Sam Baxter together they had 3 children, Richard born in 1930, Kay in 1932 and Edward in 1937. Jean later married LeRoy Fashbaugh in 1946 and their daughter Marilynn was born in 1947.
During WW II, she went to work for the Selective Service Bureau, while there she was promoted to head of the local division draft board and received a letter of commendation from President Harry S Truman. After the war and dissolvement of the S.S. she went to work for the City of Antioch in the water and tax departments. She ran for city Clerk and was elected in 1950 and served in that capacity until her retirement in 1972. She then moved to Yerrington, NV in 1972, she stayed there until the death of her husband LeRoy. Jean moved back to Antioch and became active with Meals on Wheels, auxiliary at Delta Memorial Hospital, Historic Society of Antioch and served on the board of directors Human Resource Committee.

In 1996 Jean moved to Crescent City where she became a member of the Crescent City Senior Citizens and a member of the First Baptist Church of Crescent City.

Jean was preceded in death by her brothers Ed, Jack and Keith MacDonald; sister Catherine Coursey and son Richard Edward Baxter.

She is survived by her daughters Kathleen (Kay) Pienetti of Carson City, NV and Marilynn Ladendorff of Crescent City. Son Edward (Ed) Baxter of Crescent City; 4 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.
Jean will long be remembered by friends and family for her famous dinners of chicken, home made noodles and sweet & sour lettuce - there will good eating in heaven...

The family requests contributions be made to the First Baptist Church, 1295 G Street, Crescent City, CA 95531 or ones favorite charity.

A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church on Saturday, September 1st at 1:00 P.M.
