Obituary

Longtime Estacada resident, Janice Richards, died March 18, 2019. She was 73. A celebration of her life will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, March 25, 2019 at Estacada Community Fellowship. Janice Carol Archer was born March 9, 1946 to Norman and Mary (Layton) Archer in Yakima Washington. She married the love of her life, Edwin Richards, on June 8, 1968. They were married for 51 years strong. Janice worked for the Estacada School District for over 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, camping and most importantly shaping the lives of young people. Janice loved her family, community and life. Survivors include her husband, son, daughter, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 6 siblings.

Memories & Tributes

My deepest condolences to the family...Mrs. Richards was my son Joey's teacher's aide in grade school and junior high school. She loved him, advocated for him, and gave him the utmost in care and respect--she believed in him! Naturally, she treated all of her students that way, but I will never forget how well she looked after Joey, and how much he learned from her. So many lives are richer for having known her.
