Obituary
Jane Ann Bruene passed into the arms of Jesus peacefully on the morning of February 25th, surrounded by family and friends after a short but hard fought battle with lung cancer.
Jane was born on July 27, 1961 in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Gerard and Terry Robinson. She was the third of four children, with two older brothers, Phil and Tom, and younger sister Melissa. They were raised in South Holland, Illinois where Jane graduated from Thornwood High School. Jane loved swimming and was on the school’s synchronized swim team.
Jane and her family spent the summers at their second home on Wabasis Lake in Michigan. Here she met her husband Bob through mutual friends in the summer of 1978 and they quickly became best friends and fell in love. The two were married on March 22, 1980. In 1982, Bob and Jane decided to move from Chicago to Oregon to start a new and exciting life. They made the move with Laura and Jay Rau and were eventually joined by more family. They settled in Corbett, and went on to build a home and raise their four children, John, Melissa, Lauren, and Kristen. This remains the family home to this day and has been the gathering place for many family events, one of Jane’s favorite things.
Jane was a proud and wonderful homemaker and also homeschooled all four children until the third grade. Once the kids were in school, she began working on the kitchen staff for the Corbett School District, giving her the opportunity to continue being involved in the kids’ days and getting to know their friends. She went on to be part of the kitchen staff serving children for the Gresham Barlow School District, where she later retired.
Jane and Bob began attending Good Shepherd Community Church shortly after moving to Oregon and have been committed members there ever since. Here they met many of their closest friends through Bible studies and church activities and with this community Jane continued to grow her deep faith and relationship with Jesus.
After retiring, Jane and Bob enjoyed an active, adventurous life together, rekindling their youthful friendship. Jane loved to travel, hike, swim, explore new places, and enjoy the beautiful outdoors that God created. They spent precious time attending all five of their grandchildren’s activities and visiting family and friends all across the country.
Jane was a beautiful soul who was always so encouraging, loving, inviting and kind and was loved dearly by everyone she met. She was a true servant in every aspect of her life, taking care of, praying for, supporting, and loving all those around her. She was instrumental in helping to raise many nieces, nephews, and friends of her own children, loving and caring for them as her own. She truly touched so many lives in her joyful years on this earth and will be forever missed.
