Obituary

James Martin Reynolds born November 25, 1930 in Tacoma, WA passed away on May 28, 2021 at Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City, CA, in his last days surrounded by 20 family members. He was the son of the late Harold June Reynolds and the late wife Hazel Mae Carson Reynolds.

James graduated from Concrete Washington High School in 1949. He joined the US Navy in 1949 graduating from boot camp in San Diego, CA. He would serve in Korea on the USS Mispillion and the USS Whiteside. Medals awarded during the Korean service were the medals of Japanese Occupation, Good Conduct, China Service, United Nation’s and the National Defense Medal.

James met his future wife, Shirley in San Diego in 1950 and married her in 1953 by Reverend T. Loyd Rimmer (Shirley’s father) at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in San Diego. They lived in San Diego after leaving the Navy in 1954 and moving to Orleans to be near family in 1993. Lastly, they moved to Crescent City in 2013 to follow their children and grandchildren. James worked as a plumber and then as a federal government building inspector for ROICC.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley Ann Rimmer Reynolds of Crescent City; children Jeffrey James Reynolds and Anne Marie McAleenan and husband Michael all of Crescent City; son Randall Thomas and wife Deborah of Weitchpec, CA and son Timothy William Reynolds of Crescent City, CA.

He also leaves behind his sister Judy Riggs of New Mexico; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and his lifetime friend Cindy Goodman.

During his last hours, family visited from Crescent City, Weitchpec, Fortuna, Vancouver, WA and San Diego.

Family services were held.
