James Howard Kinsey

Obituary

James H. Kinsey, 80 of Parker City, IN passed away on April 20, 2024, at the Richard Roudebush VA Hospital in Indianapolis, IN.  He was surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren who will miss him dearly.
Jim was a proud member of the United States Army and entered the service on April 20, 1965.  His death occurred exactly 59 years after entering the military.  Jim served his country during the Vietnam War with honor, courage and bravery.  Additionally, Jim was a member of the Selma, IN American Legion.  Jim was a hero among heroes.

After being discharged from the military, Jim came home to his fiancé Janet whom he married on February 18, 1967.  They were married for 57 years and created a beautiful and blessed life together.  Jim worked at Westinghouse Corporation for several years as well as the Carpenter’s Union.  Jim went on to a successful career as a Millwright for Borg Warner Automotive, retiring in 2005.  In retirement, Jim held a part-time position with the Delaware County Highway Department.  Jim loved tractors and the outdoors, so it was no surprise he accepted the opportunity to mow for the Highway Department.  Jim made several furry friends along his mowing route, and many would come to his tractor to receive one of the treats he always brought for them.  Jim loved animals and took great joy in seeing and playing with them.
Jim had many hobbies and interests throughout his life.  Jim especially enjoyed searching farm fields for Native American artifacts as well as hunting and fishing.  Jim took many special trips to Canada to fish with friends over the years.  Jim enjoyed classic cars (55 Chevrolet his favorite), word searches and 1960’s music.  If you were ever a passenger in his truck, you would get to experience a variety of music from the 60’s with him often joining in on the singing.  Jim was quiet, strong and soft-hearted but also quite mischievous.  He enjoyed ribbing his friends and pestering his children and grandchildren.  He took delight in making others laugh and his bright blue eyes often sparkled when sharing a joke with people he cared about.  Jim was giving and generous and was always there for his friends and family when they needed him.  He always made people feel special and he showed his love and affection by so many acts of service to others over the years.  Jim loved spoiling his grandchildren and showed his affection with hugs and kisses.
Jim is survived by his wife Janet, his children Brad Kinsey (Kara), Dawn Meyer (Chip), Bret Kinsey as well as his grandchildren Casey Kinsey (Allie), Chloe Kinsey, Marshall Meyer, Marissa Meyer, Sophia Kinsey, Rylan Kinsey, Ryker Kinsey and great granddaughter Rayna Kinsey.  One brother, George Kinsey.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mildred Kinsey, 3 sisters, Virginia Jackson, Barbara Holeman, and Carolyn Trego.  Two brothers, Charles Kinsey and Russell Kinsey.

Calling hours for James are Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, with an additional calling hour on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.
