James Matthew Jessup, Jr.
Mr. James Matthew Jessup, Jr., 83, of Mt. Airy passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Northern Regional Hospital in Mt. Airy. He was born in Surry County on September 2, 1940, to the late James Matthew Jessup, Sr. and Mary Scott Jessup. Mr. Jessup retired from NC Granite and was a faithful member of Field of Grace Baptist Church. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be dearly missed by all his family and many friends. He is survived by his wife, Linda Bennett Jessup; a daughter and son-in-law, Sonya Sawyers and husband Milford; a son and daughter-in-law, James Mitchell Jessup and wife Sherrie; grandchildren, Ryne Jessup, Jennifer Pardue and husband Tyler, Shannon Johnson and husband Daniel, Kalyn Karpenko and husband Ken; great grandchildren, Emalyn Johnson, Jack Karpenko, Abel Johnson, Mac Henry Johnson, Asher Pardue, Isaac Pardue. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Field of Grace Baptist Church with the Pastor Barry O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 1427 Edgewood Dr., Suite 101, Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
