In Loving Memory of

James Dale Erwin

February 23rd, 1942 - April 25th, 2026

Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Erwin, who left us on April 25, 2026, at the age of 84. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at his home in Estacada, Oregon.

Jim shared many enduring friendships through his military service, his active participation in the Veterans of Happy Valley Group, his professional involvement with the Oregon Association of Nursery Growers, and his time with the Portland Gold Prospectors Club. Those who knew Jim will remember him as a gentle and kind man, always ready with a warm smile, a friendly wave, and a sincere greeting. His steady support, willingness to lend a hand, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on his friends and family.

His memory will be kept alive by his wife, Carol Erwin; daughter, Julie (Erwin) Hawkins; grandchildren, Gabriel Hawkins and Cooper Hawkins; sister, Judy Lane; and the many friends whose lives he touched.

We invite family and friends to join us in celebrating his life on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Eagle Fern Park 27505 SE Eagle Fern Rd, Eagle Creek, OR 97022. A Veterans Honor Ceremony will begin at 2:30 pm. Casual dress.

An Honor Flight is a special opportunity for any veteran that served in the military during time of war or peace time to be honored with a free trip to Washington D.C. to reflect at the memorials built in their honor and the sacrifices they and their comrades gave for our freedoms today.  Honor Flights are funded 100% by donations from individuals and businesses from here within the Portland Oregon and surrounding areas. Your donation will help transport veterans to Washington D.C. to visit their memorials. https://hfnwo.org/donate/

You can support Portland Gold Prospectors Inc. (PGPI)—the local chapter of the Gold Prospectors Association of America by making a donation to help fund future events. https://portlandgoldprospectors.org/?s=donation
