Obituary
Jim passed away at the age of 91 with loving family by his bedside in Crescent City, CA.
Jim was born in Dearborn, MI. to Paul and Vivian Buxton. A while later his parents divorced and his mother remarried. Jim, his sister and two brothers were raised by his mother and stepdad, Will Robinson.
After high school Jim joined the Marine Corps, spending the next 21 years as a proud marine. He served at several USMC bases and was deployed to both Korea and Vietnam. During his time as a marine, Jim became interested in competitive pistol shooting. He became a master shooter competing in individual matches as well as in Inter-service team matches. He soon acquired many medals, trophies and commendations. (And bragging rights!)
In February 1964, San Diego CA. During a pistol match, Bob Cate, good friend and fellow competitor, invited Jim over for dinner with his parents. That’s when he met Bob’s sister Susan and her three young daughters. Jim was charming, witty and an entertaining dinner guest and rest is history!
Jim and Susan married in 1966. In 1968 daughter number 4 joined the family.
In 1970 Jim retired from the Marine Corps, he then became employed in the private sector. He jokingly observed “all those civilians out there and no one’s in charge!” Jim then became an Orange County deputy sheriff where he then later retired from in 1992.
With daughters raised and out on their own, Jim and Susan pulled up stakes in Irvine, CA. and moved to Crescent City. They built their home by the beautiful Smith River. They found new wonderful friends and neighbors.
Jim is survived by his wife Susan. Daughters; Laura Orlando, Leslie Patino, Luann Nelson and Linda Browning (Jason). Grandchildren; Frankie Cooper, Reegis Perkins, Nicole Beehler, Jake Orlando and 7 great grandchildren. His sister Willma Hartley and her children; Dale, Debbie and extended family in Michigan.
Jim, husband, brother, dad, grandpa, friend, we love you with all our hearts. We miss your guidance, your amazing sense of humor, your love, and we will forever cherish our precious memories of you.
