Obituary
Jacqueline Lois Brixey, 91, of Crescent City, California, passed away in her home around family members on October 6, 2021, of natural causes.
Jackie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 9, 1930, to the parents of Albert & Edna Hodges.
While traveling to the United States, operating as a traveling nurse, she met Kenneth Brixey, a Longshoreman, and married in 1954, settling in Crescent City, CA. She retired 30 years later as a Register Nurse from Seaside Hospital, DNUSD school nurse, and several private practices, which included Dr. Vipond's Family Practice.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth and her daughter Toni Brixey. She is survived by her son, Michael Brixey (wife, Linda); son-in-law, Mike Souza; her two grandchildren, Jason Brixey (wife, Jodie) and Matthew Brixey; great grandchildren Jack, Kaydee Jo, and Will Brixey.
She was very passionate about personal health and spent many years swimming and instructing at the local community pool. She volunteered her time teaching exercise classes at the Del Norte Senior Center. Reading was her favorite past time and must have read every book in the Del Norte County Library. In her latter years, she devoted much of her time and energy as a care giver to her loving husband Kenny until he passed away at the age of 84.
Her presence as Mom, Nana, and Buddy will greatly be missed. At Jackie's request there will be no funeral or memorial services. Friends & Family, who wish to honor Jackie, may make a memorial contributions to the Toni Brixey Memorial Scholarship Fund, through the Humboldt Area Foundation @ www.hafoundation.org
