Obituary
Hellen Cox, Indianapolis, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024. She was 89 years old. Hellen was born in Macon County, TN to her parents Burl and Essie Marsh. Hellen married her husband, Isom Paul Cox, on February 4, 1983 and together they shared 39 years of marriage until Isom passed away on October 25, 2022.
Hellen worked on the assembly line for Western Electric and retired in 1987 after 30 years of service. Hellen was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. As a younger woman, Hellen made the pilgrimage to the Holy Land in Israel and was able to visit multiple religious hotspots during her trip. Hellen enjoyed fishing, gardening, mowing the grass and shopping. She enjoyed canning tomatoes, green beans, and beets. Hellen was a fantastic cook who leaves behind memories of her delicious mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and salmon patties. Hellen was also fond of baking; chocolate pudding and pie, jam cakes, prune cakes and coconut pie. Hellen never met a stranger and loved to talk with her family on the phone. Her outgoing and funny personality will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind.
Hellen is survived by her children, Larry Jones and Tim Jones; her grandchildren, Karissa Jones, Schuyler (Steven) Hurst, Joshua Jones, and Amanda (Blake) Yentes; her great granddaughter on the way; her siblings, Shirlie (Val) Nolan and Ron (Millie) Marsh; her several nieces and nephews.
Hellen is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Isom Paul Cox; her siblings, Marie McDonald, Jean Jent and J.C. Marsh.
A visitation for Hellen will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 1:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:00 pm.
