Obituary

Glinda Kay Hatter, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away peacefully on May 3rd, 2023, in Crescent City. Born on March 13th, 1947, in San Jose, Kay's life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of family, and the resilience of the human spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity, service, and compassion that will continue to inspire generations to come.
Kay was the beloved daughter of the late Doc McGarrh and Ruth Walraven, who instilled in her the values of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. She was the cherished wife of the late Gary Hatter Sr., with whom she shared a love so strong it transcended time and space. Together, they raised a beautiful family that included their children Robin Lassle, Brandy Carr, and Gary Hatter Jr., as well as their son-in-law Jimmy Carr and daughter-in-law Crystal Hatter. Kay's love for her family was immeasurable, and she was fiercely proud of her 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Kay dedicated herself to helping others, particularly those who faced challenges and obstacles. As a special education instructional assistant, she worked tirelessly to ensure that every student had the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Her commitment to her students was unwavering, and her impact on their lives was profound. Kay's work in education was not just a job – it was a calling, a passion that fueled her every day.
Kay's dedication to service was truly inspiring, and her efforts touched countless lives throughout her community and beyond.
Kay's interests were as diverse as her talents, and she embraced life with a sense of wonder and curiosity. She adored babies, recognizing in them the infinite potential for love, joy, and growth. Kay's love of books was legendary, and she could often be found with a novel in hand, lost in the pages of a captivating story. Puzzles were a favorite pastime, challenging her mind and providing hours of entertainment. Kay also enjoyed camping, appreciating the beauty of nature and the serenity of the great outdoors. Coloring was another beloved hobby, allowing her to express her creativity and bring a touch of beauty to the world.
Kay's life was a tapestry of love, kindness, and thoughtfulness. She was a woman who believed in the power of human connection and the importance of compassion. Her gentle spirit and warm heart were a source of comfort and support to all who knew her. In the face of adversity, Kay remained steadfast, her resilience a testament to her strength of character and indomitable spirit.
As we celebrate Kay's life and honor her memory, let us all strive to embody the qualities that made her such a remarkable woman. May we be thoughtful in our actions, loving in our relationships, and kind in our words. Let us remember that each day is a gift, an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others and to leave a lasting impact on the world around us.
In the words of the great motivational speaker, Zig Ziglar, "You can have everything in life you want if you will just help other people get what they want." Kay Hatter lived this philosophy every day, and it is our privilege to carry on her legacy of love, service, and compassion.
Rest in peace, dear Kay. Your light will continue to shine in the hearts and lives of all who had the honor of knowing you.
