Obituary
Gil “Avo^” Estrela, 79
was born in Terceira, Azores on March 8, 1946. On March 21, 1971, he married
the love of his life, Maria Alina Estrela. They have been married for 54 years.
In August of 1971, he moved to the United States with his wife and began
working as a mechanic at Torgersen Ford dealership for 7 years. Gil became an
American citizen in 1977. In 1979, Gil was hired as a mechanic for the City of
Crescent City and worked there for 32 and half years.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Alina and
his sons Dan Estrela and Chris Estrela and his wife Christin Estrela. He is
also survived by his brothers Rolando Estrela, Nivaldo Estrela, Felix Estrela,
and his sister Silvia Costa. To know him was to love him! We will miss him telling us old stories and
his laugh! He never met a stranger! If you were a friend and saw him out and
about, he would talk your ear off it was never a short conversation. He
would likely brag about his grandchildren, because his world revolved around
each of them. He was hands down the best Avo^ and he'll be greatly missed! He
is survived by his grandchildren Jaidan Estrela, Landan Estrela, Brody Estrela,
Mia Estrela, and Dominic Estrela
