Obituary

Longtime Estacada resident, Gary Heller died suddenly at his home on Monday, February 19, 2018. He was 59.

A graveside service will be held 1PM, Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at Willamette National Cemetery followed by a Celebration of his life at 4PM at Portland Open Bible Church 3223 SE 92nd Ave, Portland, OR 97266.

Gary George Heller was born July 6, 1958, in Portland, Oregon to George and Verna (Bland) Heller. He was raised in the Parkrose area and graduated from Park Rose High School in 1977. In 1980 he entered into the US Army where he served in Korea as Military Police. On June 12, 1982, Gary married Soni Porter. He was honorably discharged in 1983. They made their home the Park Rose area where they started their family. They later moved to Estacada. For most of his working career he worked as a sanitation engineer in October of 2016 he became permanently disabled and had to retire.

Gary enjoyed many sports including; baseball, football, golf, soccer, swimming, and hiking. He loved being in the outdoors. Survivors include his wife, Soni; son, Cole; daughter, Ashley; mother, Verna Heller; brother, Tom and 5 grandchildren.
