Obituary
Ernest Darrell Campbell passed away at his home June 3, 2023. Darrell was born January 30, 1951 in Tennessee to parents Ernest and Nealy Mae Campbell. After high school Darrell married Betty Williams and they had four sons together. They later divorced and he married Clare.
Darrell loved the ocean, the mountains, fishing and hunting and spending time with his family. He owned and operated Darrell’s Equipment Repair for many years. He also worked for the County of Del Norte and Pelican Bay State Prison.
After retiring, he could often be found at his sawmill turning old redwood logs and stumps into useful lumber or working in his woodshop building beautiful outdoor furniture from old redwood that he had salvaged.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Clare, step-son Eric Moon, his sons Rodney Campbell and wife, Jen and granddaughter Nakina Campbell; Travis Campbell and wife, Misty, step-daughter Victoria and granddaughter London; Jamie Campbell and wife, Alyssa and grandsons Skyler and Logan Campbell, grandsons Isaac and Micah Campbell (Brian’s sons), his sister, Dianna Hyatt, brothers Ken “Randy” Campbell and wife, Roberta, Tom Campbell, and Kerry Campbell and wife, Susie; his aunt Jewell Campbell and husband Jim Fox, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest E. Campbell and his mother, Nealy Mae Campbell; son, Brian Campbell, and his brothers, James Campbell, Ted Campbell, and Stephen “Tony” Campbell.
