Obituary
Eleanor Hayes Hollis passed away on March 15, 2024, at the age of 81. She is predeceased by her father, Thomas Hayes, Sr., and mother, Elsie “Midge” Hayes. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Hollis (Nathan) and brother, Thomas Hayes, Jr.
She worked for many years as a workers’ comp insurance adjuster. During that time, she made many friends and honed her negotiation skills. Those skills came in handy when she opened up a “gently used” store. It was aptly named Ms. Penny Pinchers since she would pinch a penny until it bled.
She loved to go to thrift stores and look for new treasures and was not afraid to negotiate for a better price. She loved people and never met a stranger. She was independent and strong willed, but her heart was big. She was truly loved and will be deeply missed.
The family would like to thank Brenda Jenkins, Jessie Wilson, Karla Sharpe and Brittany Bolden for all their love, support and care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you send a donation to the American Cancer Society or to any charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held on March 20, 2024, from 11am-12pm with graveside to follow to be officiated by Rev. L. C. Jenkins, Pastor of Greater Lily Star Baptist Church, Fairfield.
